DAY 10 - CRETE

Busy holiday day….we drove the longest distance today …from Rethymno to Elounda but decided to make a day of by stopping on route.
# Arkadi Monastery…where it was invaded several times in its history.
# in 1866 women snd children hid in the gunpowder store as the 1000 men had been killed. An 80yr old monk decided captive was a worse fate so lit a match!!!
We then decided to check out hotels/areas for our last destination near the airport…most we not good but ..
#this place was lovely ..BALI
#club sandwich for lunch, dip in the sea and onwards.
# we arrive in Elounda at 5…our room had been upgraded free (#with a bottle of bubbly, red wine and fruit)but we paid a bit more for another upgrade..it’s still a bargain.
#with a pool. It’s all inclusive; which we never do but after all our travel we liked the idea of being still and with a pool.
#glass of wine by 1 of the 3 main pools and then
#a meal at the on-site taverna…4 courses and wine…all free!!! We’re stuffed…night all zzzzz
