La Romieu

The options today were to arc right towards home, arc left to do same, or "go straight up through the middle and see some new places". We went for the unexplored part of France.

He wasn't kidding about straight up the middle, most of our route was in a continuous straight line - very Dusty-appropriate. Didn't seem to be a Roman road as we saw no signs for ruins or bridges etc. but The Driver tells me that Napoleon did his fair share of road building too. I must look it up.

We are on a campsite at La Romieu (in Gascony). La Romieu is one of France's Les Plus Beaux Villages. It didn't look like much as we drove through earlier but we went for a walk this afternoon and found that it is a little Bastide town, very charming inside the walls. Didn't have time to view the Collegiale or the gardens that can be visited. Another visit is indicated!

As we strolled, we noticed The Cats that decorate the town. There is a local legend about the town being saved by an orphan girl and her cats. I took many photos and will make a cat collage later...

This is not the restaurant where we are eating tonight, ours is further along the colonnade but the red seats here are more striking.
