The Beresford (1938)
Built originally as an hotel for punters visting the incredible Empire Exhibition, it is now privately owned flats.
So our Easter break plans were seriously scuppered by the Arctic weather. We had booked a lovely looking cottage in Lochranza on the island of Arran for the week starting today. But blizzards of snow had brought power lines down that supply the island, and the ferry wasn't sailing.
With a packed car and two kids in holiday mode, we decided to head west anyway and holed up in a Glasgow hotel to see if there was a light at the end of the tunnel.
