Quod oculus meus videt

Not such a Green Lane

This is the green lane I photographed on 6th March, just a little further up the lane. I wondered what it would be like with the snow and so ventured out early this morning on the way to work. This time I didn't drive up the lane, something I was subsequently very grateful for as just towards the end of the lane the drifting snow hand banked up 3 feet deep across its full width. Instead I walked, using a local canal to get to the lane. Even in this image the snow in the foreground is over a foot deep.

As yesterday's image proves, 4x4 or not, nature is king. Even as I drove home tonight snow had drifted across one of the main roads into Walsall, reducing the carriageway to just two cars wide (If you were willing to drive over snow/ice). It appeared some had, testified to by drivers exchanging insurance details next to their dented cars!

This image has been extensively processed, firstly to bring out the wonderful texture in the foreground, and then to provide the moody sky. To do this I used Nik SIlver Efex Pro.
