A blip of a rant
Living dangerously by making triangular flapjacks
So a school has banned triangular flapjacks. All flap jacks must be cut into squares, circles or rectangles to prevent further injury.
I totally understand where the school are coming from. Whenever anything causing harm happens it must be risk assessed
Harm that could/ has been caused x likely hood of it happening = level of risk.
Harm = child hit on face school time lost
Likely hood or happening again probably likely
Therefore school has to work out how to reduce the risk to lower level which leads to change of shape. This then shows parents that school are trying to reduce risk.
Surely another way would be to teach our children that throwing food ( or actually anything at meal times) is rude and not acceptable behaviour and there will be consequences.
Otherwise what will be banned next. Cheese triangles, oatcakes, sandwiches cut in triangles.
Orchestra and maths class will never be the same.
