University of York - Sculpture
Back in January I did an Introduction to Modern Sculpture course online with the University of York so this was my opportunity to see the works in person.
We took a couple of hours to explore the campus before heading home. It’s in a beautiful setting around Heslington Hall, built in 1569, with gardens and a lake with lots of bird life - the sculptures are spread throughout.
This sculpture opposite Heslington Hall is ‘Dryad’ by Austin Wright. He was a successful largely self-taught artist – apparently Henry Moore told him to “just get on with it”!
