Cross spider
It wasn't cross in the sense of being annoyed. In fact, it was quite placid. There are usually a few in my garden. It's tiny, no more than 3 mm across the body. I think it's a St Andrew's Cross Spider. It gets that name from a feature of its web, in which 4 thickened 'arms' form a cross shape, shown in the extra. Biologists are undecided about the function of this - for more info follow this link to Wikipedia.
