Amandine's Plot Treize

Pond edge planting

Now that the new pebble beach is done, here's the exciting bit: planting!

My soil is heavy clay which only has two states: concrete when dry and sticky when wet. Over the last 5 years, I've added huge quantities of organic matter to make the soil more workable but it's ongoing work.

On the plus side, heavy clay retains water and nutrients so despite its challenges, it's not the worst soil for gardeners.

And I find it can be quite useful to have playdoh soil to shape the edges of a pond.

This is chamomile, I've also planted a salvia, creeping thyme and a blueberry bush. I'll be transplanting other flowers and adding marginal plants and spring bulbs around the edges.
