1. The diagnostic technique in medicine of listening to the various internal sounds made by the body, usually with the aid of a stethoscope.
2. The act of listening

Asculatatory - adjective

Related to 'auris' - ear

Don't ask me where the stethoscope came from, or why we have it, but yes it does live in our house. But I have to say, I DID choose the word first...!
