Router Plane. Leitz Elmarit 90mm on Bellows II

Meet the secret weapon used for creating the slots in which curved Imbuia inlay will be glued.  This is a fantastic little tool made locally by Maine toolmaker, Tom Lie-Nielsen.  I had to order the special cutter - shown in the Extra under greater magnification - which is spear-shaped with a flat bottom.  Guided by the plane body, it creates a slot of uniform depth.  This is just a "dry run" on a piece of scrap wood before I try it on the burl-veneered door.  Practice, practice makes perfect!  In the background is the arabesque to be inlayed.
