Memorial to Bert Bissell

Bert Bissell was a well-known local peace campaigner - he visited Ben Nevis on VJ Day in 1945 and constructed a "Peace Cairn", and revisited the location every year for about 50 years. He worked in Dudley as a probation officer for many years, and when he died in 1998 he had reached the grand age of 96. This memorial was put up at one of the entrances to the Coronation Gardens some years ago (you can see in the background the statue of Apollo which I posted quite recently), and given his association with mountains, it seems fitting to photograph it in the snow.
