The Aljaferia Palace

Up earlyish to make the most of the time we had left in Zaragoza. We indulged in our favourite Spanish breakfast of pan y tomate with freshly squeezed orange juice and cafe con leche. We then toured this Palace. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and deservedly so. It was an Islamic Palace and then commandeered by the Catholic Monarchs once the Muslims had been exiled or worse! Apparently it was used as a prison during the Inquisition.
After a snack lunch, we drove to Begur in the afternoon. Very little traffic until we reached the outskirts of Barcelona but luckily no hold ups. Our accommodation here is 15 mins walk from the town and basic but very charming. Can’t wait to explore the town tomorrow!
