Katy’s walk

We are just back from stepping out a local walk that will suit our friends who have a dog called Katy . Like Bramble she needs a route that provides plenty of opportunities for being off the lead . Our walk takes us through mixed woodlands and meadows with some small streams that run alongside the paths . We managed to avoid all cows and sheep . The route has some steep uphill parts which always seems important as walking is our main form of exercise. We wanted the route to be around an hour as we are meeting up on Saturday morning, having lunch and then off to witness the unveiling of a long awaited statue of Barbara Castle who was a beloved MP of our town. We arrived here shortly after she had handed the reins over to Jack Straw so we narrowly missed meeting her and working with her . It’s a shame as she was such a splendid woman , I would like to have seen her in action.

Happily , the sun is out and I’m going to make the most of it , cut the grass , gather leaves in order to make leaf mould and then at some point go for my flu jab .
This morning I started sewing some face wipes that I’m making from an old jersey sheet to replace the cotton wool that I usually use . I was / am hoping to make some as gifts but some refinements will be needed . It felt very satisfying to turn this big piece of cloth into something useful .

I hope you are all also having a sunny day , it makes such a difference to my mood , I think that’s true for many of us .
