From the box of photos that have lain undiscovered for many years this is a view of the construction of the Forth Road Bridge, taken from North Queensferry. The first extra shot was taken from by the rail bridge, looking towards the slipway at North Queensferry where road traffic queued for the ferry that would take them across the river. It became apparent through the 1950s that the ferry service would eventually provide to be inadequate to cater for the ever-increasing amount of traffic and that the construction of a bridge was a necessity. The second extra shot is a view from the opposite shore, looking back across the river towards Fife. All three pictures here were taken around 1962.
