Escape from the Marathon

Knowing today we had a ½ marathon with 1000’s competing, seemed an excuse to head out. Hadn’t been to Wimborne since well before pre-Covid. So took a, fortunately, pretty empty double-decker bus.

Pity Beeching axed the train there, as the bus takes an eternity, ca. 60mns, for a relatively short distance. Made the mistake of getting on a No. 6 which does the rounds of every housing estate en route.

Walked round in the pleasant sunshine. Enjoyed the lovely chants of the Choir as we passed by the Abbey. Noticed a couple of new shops. Had a refreshment (a Beyond Burger)in Wetherspoon, as like everyone else, we wanted to sit outside. The Olive Tree was too busy. Followed by coffee at The Square (blipped). Then returned on a No 13, which does the nice route.

Sat in the sun for a while when we returned. Have to make the most of this weather.
