For god's sake sit down, Mildred

We've had quite a bit more snow today, but it doesn't seem to be sticking. I spoke on the phone to a friend today who has been snowed un for a number of days; even the snow plough had to be dug out!
Today's blip is a screen shot of one of our Sheffield peregrines on the nesting platform. She delighted us today by laying an egg overnight. Last year, she laid 4 and 2 were successfully hatched and fledged. The pair are known as George and Mildred (ancient sitcom) because the nest platform is atop a deconsecrated church called St George's which is now part of the university. For the first time this year, we can watch the pair closely thanks to a newly installed webcam - very exciting! You can see it here, but you may need to be patient as it is often oversubscribed at the moment. We were a bit worried when she left the nest earlier, but we were reassured by @peregrines13 on twitter that incubation does not start in earnest till all the eggs are laid. Still, I'd feel better if she would just sit down!
