A Leaf in Time

We walked into the village to do some errands including some curtain cleaning. On the way back we saw this leaf already embedding itself into the local limestone sediment on the path. Come back here in a couple of million years and you may find this leaf has fossilised!

The sun shone brightly first thing but it retreated around noon and only reappeared as a ruddy low glow briefly at sunset.

On our walk home we found an orphaned supermarket trolley. We detoured to the supermarket from where it had come, pushing the empty trolley, and attracting some strange looks. Did they really think we we had permanently adopted this for our personal use?!

Maybe some of these abandoned trolleys will become fossilised. Over 9 years rock hopping at Joppa, I watched one trolley become welded to the coast by barnacles. It’s already on its way to confound future geologists, archeologists and palaeontologists. Perhaps “Every little” clue will be needed to help them in their quest!
