Underneath the Arches

………………..just a few of the 28 which comprise the Royal Border Bridge which spans the River Tweed. Built by Robert Stephenson and opened by Queen Victoria in the mid 1800s it’s 2162 feet long…each arch spanning about 60 feet with a height of 121 feet above the river. The remains of Berwick castle are on the left.

Extra shows the other end of the bridge as it wends its way above Tweedmouth.
