A view from the other side

This is Cottam Power Station which was decommissioned in 2019. A coal powered station close to the river Trent in Nottinghamshire. I normally take pictures of it  from the Lincolnshire side of the river, by Torksey Lock.

In the mid ‘80’s we had the opportunity to see the inside of one of these towers when it was ‘shut down for maintenance’. So helpful for doing OU course T 101 !!! It was a mind blowing experience, in pre ‘photograph everything’ days, so there is no record of the event.

We were over at R’s this morning to check on the house and pick tomatoes and raspberries from the garden. I frequently say ‘we must visit Cottam’, but as we had time today and the weather was beautiful we diverted off the main road and followed the signs for the site. There are signs prohibiting photography at the main entrance, but nothing here!!  At some point the towers will be demolished.

I have been so tired today, after a busy week. We didn’t have dogs to walk, but I needed the fresh air and exercise, so we went out. I managed to achieve my exercise target on my watch I’m pleased to say, as I haven’t for the past two days.
