Last day in St Ives

Today is our last day in St Ives and it was so misty this morning that we could hardly see across the harbour. Fortunately a couple of hours later, Mr Sunshine had blue sky to play in. Yay!

I can't say we're looking forward to the weather in Edinburgh. One of our friends put a post on FB to say it was -1C yesterday and she'd had to scrape ice off the car. We've been so, so lucky with the weather in St Ives over the last six weeks. Most days we've managed an hour or two just to sit outside and chillax on our very sunny sun terrace.

We've also had a much better social life here. Today is the first day in more than 6 weeks that we have literally spent the whole day by ourselves. In Edinburgh it feels like we've spent the last 18 months by ourselves!!! And when I say by ourselves................ because we tend to go out at roughly the same time for my 'first thing in the morning' walk, there's various people that we chat to every day. I've made friends with a really lovely little Cockerpoo called Buster who is always in the field next to our house. In Edinburgh we never meet the same person twice on the morning dog walk?!!

And..................... the other thing that is different here; we have neighbours. So if we go onto our sun terrace or leave our house, the chances are we will have someone to talk to, especially if the weather is nice and everyone is outside. We most definitely would not have felt so isolated and devoid of human contact if we had spent lock down here instead of Edinburgh. In Edinburgh we live in a fourth floor flat with a small balcony (with fabulous views – it's lovely) but unless we leave our flat at the exact same time as other people, we never see anyone.

Ann says it's really, really, difficult to decide what to do and where to live. It would be sooo much easier if St Ives & Edinburgh were a two/three hour drive away from each other, then we could just spend half the week in each place. Oh well, ho hum, it is what it is?!! Ann's never planned anything in her life so I guess things will eventually sort themselves out.

Anyway today Ann has been cleaning & cleaning & cleaning because we have 'holiday makers' arriving on Monday and she always gets a bit paranoid and 'cleaning obsessive' before we leave. She should probably just have asked our very lovely housekeeper Julia to clean after we leave but that always seems a bit self-indulgent to ask someone to clean up after us and then at least if the visitors complain she could blame someone else. Lol!!! Not that she's ever had any complaints, but she's sitting watching 'Four in a Bed' while helping me write my Blip. OMG, the people on that programme are soooooooooo picky!!!

Was thinking about going on an extra walk to catch the sunset but it's looking a bit dull out there so I don't think we'll bother. I'm having a snooze in my bed. I've gobbled up all my dinner (because I had two hot dog sausages mixed in – they were left over from my 'agility treats') and Ann has half a bottle of wine to drink. Oh and a microwaveable Asda Chicken Korma for dinner tonight, because she certainly isn't going to put anything into the oven that she's just cleaned. #weknowhowtolive

We've had a lovely 6 weeks in St Ives.  See you all again in January. xxxx
