New lens new style?

I would like to try making my photography a bit stronger and more meaningful.I bought my first new lens well used lens a sigma 18-50mm f2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM, a step up from the kit lens which I need sent for repair. The reviews are good and tha is it punches above its price range. Any way I managed an hour this evening to try it out and I am reasonably chuffed. This sounds silly but I think I might need to put more work into this to get the results . The Nikon kit lens seemed to produce OK results without really trying> went to my favourite part of Lossiemouth 'Seatown' and took some shots in the dying light. I have been a bit tired and have missed a few nights blipping and checking out others blips , hope everyone is having a great week:)
