I was at Heathrow airport today. I had to drive around the perimeter road and there is a wonderful point where, for about a minute, you are driving into the incoming flight path. The airport is so busy that you can often see a plane about to land, one in the middle distance and one beyond that.

Keen as ever to take a decent photo that relied on imagination rather than technique I decided to try and capture one of those moments but, firstly, there was nowhere to pull over and, secondly, my "daily" camera probably isn't up to the job.

Still, I'd decided to take a photo of an aeroplane so, arriving at Terminal 5, I parked up and instead of heading straight to the terminal, I wandered towards the western edge of the car park to see if I could capture a plane coming into land.

And as soon as I started walking away from the car, I started to feel a bit shifty. This is probably related to the fact that I got apprehended by a security guard at Euston station last year while I was taking a photo of the way the sunlight was reflecting off the floor. Which, admittedly, does sound much more suspect written down :-/

But I did feel like I was doing something I shouldn't. I found I was suddenly rather aware of the fact there are armed police at the airport and that I was standing on the spiral at the car park's exit to get the shot I wanted.

But it transpired that no one was bothered and I managed to take this rather average shot of a plane coming into land.

(Jesus, it has stressed me out writing plane instead of 'plane. This is the first step in weaning myself off 'phone.)
