Vigil for Divestment from Fossil Fuels

The Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon asked me to make photos of their vigil at Wells Fargo Bank today. This person is a non-binary minister (they/them) who is also Native American and is passionate about doing all they can to delay climate change. I've added an extra that tells more of the story of the vigil, which involved about fifty people and one very sweet, mellow, slightly overweight dog (second extra).

A flyer was handed to passers-by, including this information: "Wells Fargo is the world's third largest funder of fossil fuels. Over the five years following the Paris Agreement they have poured $223 billion into the coal, oil, and gas industries."

There was also a paragraph about the COP26 meeting in Glasgow next week.

It was a joy to be out photographing a protest again--and to have been invited to make photographs as well.
