Beating Heart

Darren arrived this morning to finish the joists under the floor in the back room. He sent me a text last night saying ‘put the light on when you get home so you don’t fall down the hole!’ The hole is now covered and my floor doesn’t sink in the corner.

Sue picked me up just after two and we went into town. I haven’t actually been in to town for over a year. I’ve driven to work but that’s all. We had ummed and aahed about whether to go by bus….again, I haven’t been on one for over a year. We opted for the car, but when we went into the car parks the prices were horrendous. We nearly drove home to get the bus back!!

We parked eventually and had to go immediately for a drink to get over the shock of the prices. We went in a couple of places and had a drink then we went to China Town for a bite to eat. We had tickets for the theatre to see Bedknobs and Broomsticks. We had to show certificate of covid vac before entering, we wore masks all the time but sadly not many others did. We were in good seats near the back….until a huge man sat in front of me! Just before it started we moved to the very back row with no one near us….perfect view and and away from others. The show was really good and the set was amazing. It was great to have a day like this again.

Before we went in the theatre we decided to have a quick look at the ‘Corridor of Light’ on Oxford Road. There were various light installations at different venues but we only had time to see the ‘beating heart’. I wonder what all the residents in the apartments there thought about the lights pulsating round their windows all night???
