Indefinite article?

NOT "The Pios" just "Apios".  
I bought "some" on "a well-known auction site" almost too late at a guess.  Had I known then what I suspect now, I'd have separated them.  As it is I just bunged them in still joined,  next year I'll split 'em first.  It'll be interesting to see if the original pair are still viable or if, like Taties, they die after procreation? Problem is, with such a poor start I'll not be able to do a taste test.  If Mk l are still viable I'll have four, failing that just the two, unless I find more when I ferret about in there. 
Most of my weird root crops seem to stretch forth quite a distance to produce their new tubers, as hinted at here, had I had sense to realise.
