New Town Opulence!
Today we dropped Colin's car off at the garage to diagnose and hopefully cure, a knocking sound. We did check first, there was nobody trapped in the boot, lol! We took both cars down so I could run him back again and as I started up my polo the coolant light came on. It was flashing which means be careful and check, rather than on constantly which, as it is a red light, means stop! I did my usual and tried switching the ignition off and on when we got to some traffic lights and the light disappeared. That works for all sorts of things not just phones and computers!
When I got to the garage I asked if I could buy some coolant, I'd added the little that I had, just a couple of weeks ago and was aware it probably wasn't quite enough. That, combined with today's cold weather probably triggered the warning. Anyway to cut a long story short, Gavin was sent out with a bottle of coolant, he topped up the reservoir and off I went, no charge. Now that's just one of the reasons why I'm loyal to that garage with our ten year old and eight year old cars. Colin's car was diagnosed and fixed within an hour and a half, nothing major so that was also good.
This afternoon I went shopping in town with Ali and Josie. Apart from lunch, I managed not to buy anything, which was something of a surprise. We did get very wet though at one point! Josie was OK, she was in her pram with a raincover!
I was rather taken by the Halloween display at a house in Albany Street. I loved the elegance of the New Town doorway and the arrangement of not one, but eight pumpkins. I wonder if they'll be carved later in the week.
Our girls loved their witch dresses but they won't be going around the neighbours this year because of the risk of infection. A shame but sensible, so,... they wore their outfits today, to after school club /holiday club. The schools are still closed, but as their parents were working they had a day there today. Eilidh is going to wear hers to Brownies too, so they are making good use of them. I think we may have a couple of little witches come to visit on Sunday too, looking forward to that!
We get our double jags tomorrow, out at Ingliston. I'm pleased to have them done well before I have to drive south at the end of next week, by then our immunity levels should be almost up to full strength.
Monday night tonight, so quiz night. I was very impressed by the two UC teams who were both very young. I was also pleased that I managed to answer a few questions. Only Connect also triggered some correct answers. I thought all four teams, across both programmes, were very pleasant tonight, sometimes they are just plain weird!
Keep safe and well everyone. It feels a little like the calm before the storm somehow.
