Walking with Lou
I haven't seen Lucy for the best part of six weeks- her holiday, me working etc. She was a bit poorly and wanted to be dropped and "have lunch at Gramma's" earlier in the week, but it didn't happen, so she was disappointed. Cut a long story short, there was a case of you know what at her preschool, and they all rushed off for a PCR..... it came back negative this morning, so her request was granted and she came for lunch.
I made a hot cross bun, and began eating while my mum made Lou's lunch, and she said "uh, can you wait for me please?!" She always eats much more nicely when she eats with adults I find!
We took her for a walk in the woods- just a short one as Little Ro had lunch plans and wanted to get going! She had a happy time, collecting bits and pieces- we took a bag to collect leaves and conkers etc. She told me she wanted a blue bike for her birthday soon.
After we came back, she sat and read books. H's husband had posted on her Instagram account to remind people of the funeral next Tuesday, and it hit me all over again. I was feeling happy being with Lucy, but this came as another painful reminder that it's not a bad dream, however much I wish it was.
I'm not looking forward to Tuesday... how can this have happened?
