Aliens have landed

This strange and revolting growth has colonised my lawn. It first I took it to be crested coral fungus which is apparently edible but so insubstantial that it isn't worth the effort involved in gathering it. On further examination it is more likely to be one of the Dogs' Vomit slime moulds. Whichever it is I am not tempted to eat it.
