Celebrating Life
The reason for my weekend away was to attend a memorial service for my Grandad who died on Christmas Eve 2008. The service was today at St Peters church in Roydon, Essex.
I have fond memories of my Grandad and especially of the times I spent at his home which is pictured above. It is a lovely old farmhouse with a beautiful garden which as a young child I had many a great time in including making a den in amongst the bushes. My sister and I only saw my Grandad a few times a year due to us living in Scotland which I think makes my memories from my childhood here even more special.
This is only the second time since he died that I have been back to his home and I still expect to see him sitting in his favourite chair or walk through the door. I really hope my step-gran will be able to stay in the house for a few years yet as it would be even stranger not to go there ever again!
Today was a lovely day and so well attended by family and friends all of whom had a lot of respect for my grandad. I hope my Grandad wherever he is now enjoyed it too!
