Diary of an Edinburgher

Rugby!

A nice sunny day for the rugby! And for Archie’s walk with Elizabeth. And for JR to pop into town. But me - I spent it on the sofa, watching two games of rugby. Though I did have a wee walk out with Archie. Well done Scotland.

I didn’t like ‘Maid’ at all. Managed two episodes, to see if it got any better, but no. I’ve read a synopsis of the other eight episodes, and know that I’ve saved several hours of my life by NOT watching it. The lead’s acting was not good - the same look on her face in every scene - mouth open, eyes wide. And her mother’s overacting of a bipolar person was excruciating. She made SO many bad choices, and she was supposed to be quite intelligent - she was a ‘writer’, was applying to go to college, read ‘worthy’ books. And yet, in the courtroom scene, the dialogue was (literally!) ‘Legal…legal…legal…legal…’ supposedly to convey that she didn’t understand what was going on. And anyway, I doubt that in a case of DV (domestic violence), the child is automatically given to the father!!

The Wales/All Blacks match is just starting. The NZ National anthem and the haka is always emotional for me, having spent 25 years living in NZ. Mind you, I love the Welsh national anthem too. Barrett, in his 100th game, three minutes in, has just scored! Go, NZ.
