Deer

I have an ongoing project to document the development of the seasons in terms of the arable crops and the farm animals. But there has been very little to document recently as the farm seems to have gone into suspended animation.

This field was drilled on 25 February but the spring barley hasn't germinated yet.

In some years we turn the cows out of the barns onto lush grass in warm sunshine on about 20th March, but not this year. Grass only grows above 9 C (45 F) and we haven't had much of that!

You probably need more than Large to see that the speck at the bottom of the field, almost in the centre of the photo, is a deer :-) But there must have been some sunshine to produce a shadow!
