Everything is going wrong – A lot of RANTING today
This is 'Bonaly Country Park'. When Ann was growing up this area didn't have a name. It was just called, 'going up the hill'. And no, we didn't go up the hill in the background. After yesterday's 'climbing' Ann didn't really have the energy to do anything too strenuous. We had a very nice walk though and on the way back to the car we walked past the house where Ann lived 50 years ago. 50 years ago? That makes her sound ancient doesn't it? She is ancient!!!
And apart from my walks (I've had three today. Yay!) everything else has been disaster.............................
Firstly, Ann attempted to buy a new vacuum from 'Amazon'. It was an expensive pet one with lots of attachments I make so much mess Ann hoovers at least once a day so we need a really good hoover and it had £100 off but there were only two in stock. She popped it into her basket and proceeded to the checkout, where she had to go through a security check thing. And then she accidentally ticked the box to have it sent to our 'St Ives' home instead of our 'Edinburgh' home so she had to change that. And the whole process took forever, so by the time the sale was complete the seller didn't have any left in stock. Grrrr............. Not quite sure what happens now apart from the fact we will have a flat covered in dog hairs??????
Secondly, Ann has been trying for more than a week to change her 'flu vaccine' appointment to a venue nearer to home. Apparently she has to trek all the way out to Ingliston on Friday. For those of you who don't live in Edinburgh; Ingliston is an out of town venue. There are at least three vaccine venues which are within 2 miles of where we live so why everyone in EH10 is being sent to Ingliston, we don't know??? Ann's given up phoning to change the appointment now. She's spent 1 hour, 47 mins, 3 secs, 'on hold' since last Tuesday. And no, she can't do it online because there are NO appointments available. The NHS website now has a message on it saying that they use the same online system as the phone one, so if you can't change an appointment online today (don't bother phoning), try again tomorrow. As of half an hour ago, the system hasn't been updated since 29th October 2021. #whatashambles
Thirdly, when we came back from my walk Ann switched the TV on............... and nothing..................... sound but no picture. Only a black screen. Grrrrrr............... After 'Googling' (& trying everything Google suggested) she messaged her very clever nephew to see if he could help. Ann really thought she was going to have to buy a new TV because let's face it; it's probably more expensive to call someone out these days than buy a new TV. Very clever nephew is very clever!!! He gave Ann a few things to try and hey presto........................ Our TV is working perfectly again. Yay. #ThankyouDanxxx
Fourthly, Ann had a 'Meet & Greet' to do today at 3pm. Visitors phoned her at 1.10pm and asked if they could arrive early. Ie, right now. Errrr no............ Ann was having her lunch would have been quite happy to meet them earlier, but if they want to make any change to their arrival time they have to do it through their booking platform. What is it with holiday makers who don't read their confirmation details. Ann has to get to her M&Gs half an hour before the visitors so she can take photos of how the cleaners have left the place, make sure the heating/wifi/water/oven etc, etc. are working so she told visitors that she would be there by 2.30pm. She arrived at 2.15pm, just as the visitors were getting out of a taxi. Fortunately the cleaners had finished and weren't there, but she had to do all her checks/photos while four visitors were routing around the place and not listening to anything that she said. No doubt they will be phoning/messaging Ann with questions/problems for the rest of their stay??!! Mmmmmm.............. once Ann's done her job she just ignores any calls from them. Well it's not her fault if they don't listen is it? She gives them a 24hr contact no. for any problems and tells them that all she does is the check in process. Visitors have to leave by 11am on the day of departure. The guests today didn't want to leave until 3pm on the day of their departure. .............Seriously??? They want to arrive early, they want to leave late? Just when do they think the cleaners are going to clean????
Fifthly, Ann needed to do a supermarket shop so we popped up to 'Aldi'. Her fav supermarket since first lockdown. I had to wait in the car obviously because gorgeous little collie pups are not allowed in Aldi. The shelves in Aldi were a bit empty. Is this a 'Brexit thing'? Who knows? Ann couldn't get a lot of the veg she wanted? That made her cross!!!
Sixthly, after Aldi, we went to 'Fairmilehead Park' so that I could have another short play. I went running off into the woods because there were squirrels that needed chasing. That also made Ann cross but she knows I always come back to her because those pesky little creatures climb up trees and I can't climb trees.
….......................And now it's 7pm and thanks to our very lovely nephew, Dan, we actually have a working TV. Yay!!!
Bit of a 'RANTY' Blip today but at least we have an hour of 'Corrie' to watch.
Happy Wednesday Evening Blippers. xxxxx
