Days are better when you play hooky. I had a lovely lunch with a colleague - even though the restaurant did NOT have outdoor seating after all. At least there was absolutely no one else around. It was terrific to discuss things in my area of expertise. 

Then I had my eyes examined. My optometrist is extraordinary, incredibly precise and careful. She is the sort of woman that makes you appreciate every little girl who studied hard in school.
