Here's looking at you...
The morning was dry, with intermittent, hazy sunshine: an ideal time to get out to the woods at Longshaw and look for fungi. I got there around 9, hoping to avoid the crowds - it's a popular spot at weekends.
I did find fungi, ranging from the solitary specimen to the mini-metropolises (one example in the extra).
But the photo moment of the day was a surprise. As I was stretching out in the leaf mould to line up a photo, a movement caught my eye - I had company. A companion, under 2 feet away, inspecting my kit and appearing to ask - who are you? And what might you be doing in my backyard?
It was a case of shoot and hope for the best, no time to alter settings etc.
