Trying to Relive my Youth??

This follows on from my blip for last Tuesday (the 26th) which referred to an electronic version of Leslie Charteris' first Saint book, The Saint Meets The Tiger. I suggested that I might find the book to be an anticlimax. But far from it, I thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so that I've recovered all my Saint books from the loft and here they are. Enter The Saint is the next one for me to read. Hodder & Stoughton were not the publishers of the first book but by calling their first one Enter The Saint they tried to infer that this was the first one. They went on to publish most of Charteris' subsequent output as far a I know.

I was surprised to discover that I only have seven Saint books missing from my collection but as they were all later in the series I don't believe they were of such a good standard as the earlier ones. It seemed to me at the time that the publishers had put pressure on the aging author to write more in order to cash in on the success of Roger Moore's television series. Anyway I'm certainly not bothered now.
