The end of an era
Today was my last day at BDP; it’s been emotional!
I’ve been trying to stay calm and focused on my work, I was determined not to cry but came close a couple of times when my patients starting gushing about how sorry they are to hear I’m leaving and how grateful they’ve been for my kindness and care all these years.
I got a couple of cards off the girls; Lisa also bought me a mug for my new job (although she knows I’m already there). It’s got skulls on (which everyone knows I love), so I’ll be swapping it over when I’m at the new place on Friday.
Just when I thought I’d said all my goodbyes and I could escape, my boss summoned me to the waiting room, where I was presented with a bottle of champagne, a stunning bouquet and a card (that had £55 in!). He made a little speech about how I was the only person there who has never caused him any bother and that I will be a missing part of his team.
I was doing really well until I turned and saw the ‘ice queen’ Michelle crying. That was it then, she set us all off bawling.
I wouldn’t mind, but she lives behind my Dads house, so out of everyone, I’ll probably still see her the most!
To have that sort of send off was quite overwhelming and makes me realise that I was appreciated after all.
Dentistry is a very small world, so I have no doubt our paths will cross again :-)
