Monument to the Defenders of the Polish Post

Another day exploring Gdansk on foot. Here is a monument "remembering those who perished in one of the first altercations of WW2. Commissioned in 1979 and unveiled on the 40th anniversary of the historic event, this stainless steel monument was designed by Krakow sculptor Wincenty Kuzma." [Source: Gdansk Life]

In the sculpture is the figure of the wounded postman bent over scattered mail and handing his rifle to Nike, the goddess of victory.
