Sandy
Audrey started a new tradition….a Remembrance Gathering on the Green. It started with lockdown restrictions last year, with no parades or big gatherings it was lovely to show our respects on the Green. She did it again this year. Her house was decorated with poppies, flags and banners, for service men and women and also for animals in war. Animals are close to her heart as she trains guide dogs for the blind.
The speaker played out from the Cenotaph and we all held a silence. There were about two hundred people who just spread out with families and dogs. I couldn’t resist a pic of Sandy in his poppy necktie. It wasn’t a major event, but it was still moving. It was simple but perfect. Afterwards there were hot drinks and cakes. I stayed and chatted with a few people afterwards in the sunshine.
