Plus Ca Change ...

I'm up in the Big City for a couple of days. I didn't set off very promptly after my late-night Christmas cake baking session. It was worth sitting up and letting it rise slowly, the top is lovely and flat :-)

By the time I hit the streets of Edinburgh, the light was going. I walked along the canal, which was a mistake. It was far too dark for pictures, and I'd forgotten how far it is from Craiglockhart to Bruntsfield. Luckily Project Coffee was still open so I was able to sit down for a bit with an americano
and a cheese scone. 

The cafe in the picture is just a few doors further along the street. This used to be the premises of our plumber. I never knew it to be open, but his phone number was on the shop front, and when rung, he always turned up. He had another endearing habit - he used to take months, if not years, to send his bill in.  The new cafe seems to be adopting a similar business model - I've yet to find it open. 

I do like the way that they have retained the original Minton tiles in the doorway. The rest of the decor, isn't really my cup of tea, or should that be my milkshake??
