I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside
Strictly speaking, it's not the sea, just an estuary - but there is a Prom, and I did stroll along it this afternoon. There was no brass band going tiddly-om-pom-pom, but there were plenty of folk about enjoying the last light on this mild day.
Good old Portobello, so many childhood memories. We lived quite near, and often walked on the prom, and visited the Amusements - I still have a blue plastic lizard brooch that my Dad 'won' there. I don't think we ventured much on to the beach ... this was in the days before Edinburgh had a sewage treatment plant .... in fact, I think there's currently a wee problem with the effluent, but it didn't seem to be putting people and dogs off. Maybe it has been fixed.
I spent most of the day doing little jobs in the flat - defrosting the freezer, recycling piles of junk mail, sorting out some books that can go to a charity shop, all the things that don't get done when we are just dashing in and out. This is the longest time I've spent here in nearly two years. I may go home tomorrow, or I may have a day in town. I really need to buy a pair of shoes :-)
