Wildflower meadow area.

I went to one of the local parks for a wee while today. Just a short walk. It’s undergoing redevelopment; a number of capital projects from different funding sources and partners are well advanced. The scheme is costing several million pounds.

The large new pond is fairly taking shape and was being worked on. It’ll be a landscaped and biodiverse water feature. Construction of a new fountain has started near the refurbished war memorial, but no work today. Projects already completed include a great new and popular inclusive play park which opened in the summer; so did the great bike pump track - popular with cyclists of all ages and ability. There’s also a bike hire unit next to the tennis courts. Some cycling lessons (school pupils) were coming to an end.

The rose garden needed an end of season clean up, (new bark was caged off), so I suspect that’s in hand. Grassland is being worked on to make a performance area; it was a bit muddy and grim looking today - here I met a primary school group negotiating the muddy diversion on their way back to class after some sort of fund raising activity. The nearby wildflower meadows made up for the mud in part. I suspect it’ll be all done by Easter (winter permitting).
