Atheniella adonis
Last night I was told the general location of the rare, and tiny, Shooting Star fungus (Sphaerobolus stellatus) which I've never seen. Spent hours looking for it this morning, all to no avail. They come and go so quickly that I was probably too late (the person who told me about them had seen them early in the week).
All is not lost though as I did find another tiny scarce fungus, the beautiful Scarlet bonnet (Atheniella adonis). This one has a pink tinge to the stipe so I think it may be the very rare coccinea variety.
