Whoopers, Heron and Wigeon…

all hiding here on the loch and I hid behind the pines, not wanting to scare them or stop them feeding. The Wigeon saw me and took flight, but just did a circuit and landed again. The Whooper at the front was the guard, together with the one t the back. I presume the two in the middle are their youngsters, although not this year’s. They had been feeding in the reeds until the lead swan ordered them out. They approached but I stayed hidden and was delighted to watch them return to feed.
Back in the wood the Crested Tits and Crossbills were flocking in good numbers. So good to hear them all.
