The Muse
It's that time of year again, when I start getting messages from the offspring asking for ideas for TM's Christmas presents. They ask me, I ask him, he says he'll think about it, and repeat ... Today, after I'd mentioned it, again, he decided he'd like to go to the bookshop to browse and hopefully see some books that he'd like.
That done, successfully (and I resisted buying anything for myself), we decided to have a walk by the Tweed at Dryburgh. It was cold! But the air was beautifully clear. The end of autumn is coming fast.
This little temple was built as a tribute to a poet called James Thomson, who was born nearby. In his lifetime he was best known for a long poem called 'The Seasons', which was a favourite of Turner, the painter.
Thomson is remembered today as the author of the words of 'Rule Brittania'.
The extras were all taken from around the same spot.
Home to a log fire and a toasted tea cake, with lots of butter ....
