Not smartphone phonesmart
Today was flu jab day. I'd managed to get appointments for me and my brother this afternoon. My brother was able to get a half day off work and, despite having to get the jab, he was happy to come early for a change - especially due to the fact that it was Friday as well.
We were in out of the doctor's surgery in under 5 minutes but I was slightly concerned when the nurse said "we've got another bleeder" once the needle had come out! I must admit the needle did feel a bit sharper than when I had the covid jab but my arm was nowhere near as sore afterwards and the only after effect was a bit of a mild headache for a few hours.
As a reward for getting our jabs out of the way we then went straight down to our local pub, The Chequers, for a pint and some triple cooked chips. Lovely!
We then had a very relaxed evening with a "Thai Favourites" meal from M&S and a few glasses of wine.
Today's image is about how so entwined peoples' lives are now with their smartphones. I really do see how useful they can be but at the moment I'm still trying to hold out against getting one (the one in the image is my brother's), so I am definitely not phonesmart!
I just don't want to be someone that spends hours a day on their smartphone. When I drop my brother off at the station in the morning 8 out of 10 people are on their smartphones and my brother would say on his journey up to London a majority of people are on their phones the whole way. I do also object to the fact that now nearly everything needs to be done on an app - I get quite a lot of strange looks when I tell people I haven't got a smartphone.
Apparently there are injuries you can get from overuse of a smartphone including "text claw" and "smartphone elbow". I would also add "smartphone stoop" - you can see that distinctive stoop of the shoulders of someone on their smartphone from yards away!
