A grey travel day

We’ll I’ve got some minutes to relax so will post a blip but perhaps might change the photo later .  After we meet up with our  family. 
Driving to Canada in dry weather but clouds….some flooded fields but the rivers we passed were down.
Snow in mountains, ducks on the water.  Lots of traffic… more cars at the border than I expected…. 20 minutes in the nexus fast lane, but the border guard was a dual citizen and very chatty ..wanted to talk US politics in spite of the line of cars waiting.   HOWEVER .. he said the computer chose us to get a covid test.   When we explained how we were going to be on a remote island and could not take it to the pharmacy and they would have to send a float plane to pick it up from Galiano, he agreed that was an unreasonable expense for Canada (!!!!!) and he took them back and said he’d write a note.   But we might still get a call.    Whew. 
Peter and family were several hours behind us.   We all had negative tests. 2 days ago.  But they insisted fiona ( who is 11 and has had 1 vax so far) send in the test…. Their person didn’t care about the float plane.   Well  now they are trying to figure out how to do it from Tsawwassen  where we are all staying overnight.     Got an appointment with a zoom … Microsoft person and then drop it off.  
Does not endear us to coming to Canada.!

Edit.. I switched the photo to the anticipation of the appointment with Microsoft team that Fiona has … here’s her box … waiting for the connection to do the test ..then we can go to dinner and drop it off ! Such a lot of ridiculousness . Oops … that’s not going to work …. No collections in tsawwassen … The directions are immense and formidable … not everyone could even manage.

And of course there is a storm arriving soon !! Our ferry is before 10am If it runs .

Edit: 2nd extra .. the good part! 1st dinner OUT at a restaurant with this group in almost 2 years! Test at 7am!
