The fastest snack dog in the west
The Boss wants to kno how many of you remember the song about "Ernie"
This is a strange request but it came up in today's walk with the "B" team from Waterfall Creek to Damper Bay. Damper is the camp bread that is cooked up on a camp stove so I guess there was a bit of it made here at some time.
The bay is some distance from people generally and cyclists in particular and today the bikies were in abundance 'Cos it was a holiday. In NZ we do not have any rules about bikes and warning sounds so they come speeding up behind you and yell ONYERRIGHT!!!
This is a verbal message to please move smartly to the left and allow them unencumbered passage. The "B" team being made up of older and more polite folk seem to respond poorly to this. A combination of age and bloody mindedness I feel and several members shout "GETABELL" in response. So what with this and The Boss having to carry me over 2 cattlestops (another 2 had convenient holes cut in the adjacent fence) I was a bit edgy by the time we stopped at the bay for grub..HIS not mine.
During lunch The Boss dropped a corner of his sandwhich bread and the lovely "S" dropped a bit of pumpkin and setting a new Damper Bay record I got them both.
"Ernie" the Boss said.
"Who" the other folk said.
"Ernie" the Boss repeated, "He drove the fastest milkcart in the West"
sing along
Come closer closer clo...Not that close.
