Starlings

I found this starling chick on the lawn in a place I’d walked earlier. It could not have been dead for long. There was no visible injury and it seemed a normal weight for its size. This could be one of the ratbags that fled their nest before they could fly 10 days ago.

Update: Next day my son found another dead one the same size, and judging by its condition it died at the same time as the other. There is still a very bossy chick pestering its parent.
