Heavy rain on the pond
After a fairly dry November, the recent downpours have been welcome (wet leaves are better than dry leaves for leafmould!).
It's nice to see the pond water level rising as it went quite low in September. It also helps clear the water a bit. I've been clearing fallen leaves and debris that can accumulate on the surface to avoid having too much vegetation in the pond as sediment builds up quickly in small ponds.
The poached egg plant (Limnanthes douglasii) has self seeded like mad! I don't mind, there'll be lovely bright flowering around the edges of the pond come spring and I can always 'weed some out' to keep it under control.
