Rock and Roll

A great night out yesterday playing at the Piel Castle in Ulverston. It was Dickensian festival weekend so a good crowd, all ready to enjoy themselves. Two sets performed and it seemed to pass by in a flash as we were having fun playing some great tunes - quite surprised to find it was 12.15am when we finished! The knock on effect of all that was I didn’t actually get to bed until 3.00am. But I still woke up at 7.30am, so rather tired now.
Decided a cooked breakfast would be a great restorative, so went into town. Just as we sat down, it started snowing and didn’t let up for a few hours. At least it gave us a chance to confirm that the 4 wheel drive system on the car is fully functional! By the time I set off for Panto rehearsal after lunch, it had stopped snowing and the roads were fairly clear. Not a bad rehearsal, though a few people missing due to snow or power cuts following the storm. We got away fairly lightly with a couple of dislodged fence panels, which I should be able to repair quite easily. But that’s a job for tomorrow and daylight.
This evenings job is finding homes for all the ornaments and stuff we brought down from the loft yesterday. Some of the boxes had been up there for over two years so reactions were a mix of “ooh, I’d forgotten we had that” and “where the hell are we going to put it”. The latter comment mainly because we’ve now only got about half the shelves and cupboards we had before the work on the house started. Still, the cleaning process has already diverted a few items to the bin or car boot sale pile, and I’m sure a bit of imaginative rearranging will deal with a lot of what’s left. The new study furniture due on Tuesday will also help, though I am conscious that there are also items in the garage and at our Chester flat which were always intended to be displayed in the house once all the work was completed. The car boot sale pile may get bigger yet…
And with that thought - and the knowledge that there is a fence to repair tomorrow - I’m off for an early night!t
